Profile
Formed in May of 1997 in the Hokkaido Prefecture of Sapporo by vocalist Suzuki Yukiko, guitarist Oikawa Tsukasa, former drummer Hiroshi Miki and former bassist Kudo Shinya, Bugy Craxone is one of Japans most prolific bands of the Japanese underground music scene.
A short six months after forming the band took part in and won a music competition. Their prize money well spent on building a fan base for themselves in Hokkaido. But in 1998, a year after their creation, the band packed up and headed for Tokyo where they signed with major label, Victor Entertainment. The following year of 1999 their first album, blanket debuted. Nearly a year later in November of 2000 a follow up album titled, Yuganda Ao to Hakenai Kanjou no Soko was released. With a successful start and first tour under their belt bassist Kudo announced his departure.
In 2001 a highly active Bugy Craxone released their first single, Hodokareta Mune. Then in 2002, This is New Sunrise, their third album featuring Thee Michelle Gun Elephant vocalist, Chiba Yusuke was released. Six months later and with a new garage rock sound, Northern Hymns, their fourth album was released.
2003 became a year of changes for the band. First with the dropping of their label Victor Entertainment and creating their own called ZubRockA records. The gaining of support quickly turned official bassist Asahi Tsukasa in April and their first single under their new label, Lucky.
Later on that same year the band completed a series of tours. But yet another member had announced their depature, this time founding member and drummer, Hiroshi Miki left. By the years end Monchi would become their new support drummer just in time for the start of their 2004 tour.
A fifth album, Sorry, I will scream here was released in June of 2004. Yet another tour began towards the end of 2004 that carried on into 2005. Then in November of the same year their sixth self titled album, Bugy Craxone was released.
Currently in their tenth year, the band just completed an anniversery tour celebrating their first decade together as a band. They are also working on their seventh album.

Thoughts
I love Bugy Craxones non-commercialized pure rock sound. They definitely stand out as being a unique band one doesnft often find today. Their not about image, their about making good music. They stay true to the reason that they are in the business in the first place. Suzuki Yukiko is a very talented vocalist who can take on any role voice wise according to the song mood. Not to mention Oikawa Tsukasa, Asahi Tsukasa and Monchis instrument talents blending together well in the background. I recommend this band to anyone who enjoys a good straight forward rock and roll sound with a dash of punk!
