Buck-Tick started out as a group of friends that played New Wave music. Their live debut was in Shinjyuku Jam in Tokyo. Their first debut album is Hurry Up Mode, which came out in 1987. (It came out in Vinyl and CD, and is regarded highly as a collectors item.) The band name Buck-Tick derives from the Japanese Baku Chiku, which means Fire Cracker.In 1988, the band began a transition from new wave, to electronic rock, and came to be regarded by some as visual kei. The band line up has not changed, since 1985, when the band was officially formed. Hisashi Imai (guitarist, and electronics) is highly regarded in Japan for his distortion work on the guitar, and his eclectic sense of sound and music. Over the years, Buck-Tick has put out many major albums, that have recieved widespread acclaim, and praise. They have performed with Marilyn Manson, KMFDM, Luna Sea and other famous bands Derlanger My ThoughtsI am personally drawn to Buck-Tick because of their vocalist, who I find to be extremely unique in the spectrum of Japanese music. Atsushi’s voice is rich and deep, and extremely emotionally driven. I believe over the years, their music has only gotten better and better.
