Brown Eyes consists of Yoon Gun and Na Ul. This Korean pop duo had a nice run before they decided to split and do solo albums.

Currently, Na Ul is the main vocalist for the group Brown-Eyed Soul, which he formed in 2003. He released an album with remade/remixed Korean songs from the 80s and 90s (which included "After You’re Gone" and "The Way Home") into music genres as soul, R&B, hip hop and reggae. His plans consist of continuing to work with Brown-Eyed Soul and he’ll keep pursuing music that "gives off a distinctly human scent, rather than using mechanical sounds."

Meanwhile, Yoon Gun has released two solo albums. The singer says that the feeling his music evokes is like "smiling while weeping." Yoon mixes R&B and Korean sensitivity in his music. He tries to make this unique music through measured vocals. He sobs in his music and his voice is not falsetto, but his real voice. Yet he tries not to overly express sorrow in his songs. He is quoted saying, "It is important to deliver consistent feelings throughout an album." And when it comes to PVs -for both Brown Eyes and his solo works- he does not appear in any of them citing that they are two different things.

My Thoughts

Brown Eyes was a really good duo! Its sad to see great talent split up. Brown Eyes focuses largely on pop music. Na Ul has a amazing voice. My only complaint is that he does not use it to its full extent. If he hit some higher notes, their music would have been spectacular. This is definitely a band you must check out for sure.
