Profile

One of Japan's most famous and influencial heavy metal bands, and also one of the first! They have formed even earlier than Loudness (1981). What is great is that even though they formed in 1975, they are still playing today! Although Akira Takasaki may have beaten Bow Wow's guitarist in speed, there is something this band has that makes them one of the best and non-evolving heavy metal bands around.

They originally formed in 1975 under the name Bow Wow and released a lot of music until they changed their name to Vow Wow in 1984. This was to avoid confusion with the British pop band Bow Wow Wow. Even now, names like "lil Bow Wow" (now just Bow Wow) exist and quite obviously looking for this band will bring up a lot of articles about the American Bow Wow.

In 1995, they returned to their original name as Bow Wow and continue to play even to this day.

I would like to point out that they have a ton of music out. Ever since 1976, they have kept the same heavy metal sound. This is strange because most bands get "heavier". In example: Loudness. Loudness went from heavy metal, to heavy/power, to straight power metal, and now to thrash metal. You will never be disappointed with Bow Wow if you EXPECT heavy metal played the way it should be. This is what makes them awesome.

Thoughts

Vow Wow or Bow Wow (if you prefer) are really good! Their music is a mix of metal and also reminds me a bit of Aerosmith's fast songs. The drums and guitar players are amazing! My only critique is that the vocalist's voice is a bit rough. Overall this is a great band that I think you will enjoy :)
