Profile
Bump of Chicken is a rock group comprised of four guys. The band first came together in 1994 at a cultural festival during junior high. Excited by their first performance, the four played at a high school music festival the next year. In 1996, the band won a prize on 96TFM with their song Danny. Like any starting band, the four guys began performing at events like Beat Burst and even held their first tour titled Chickens Knife in 1997. In 1999, Bump of Chicken released their first album titled Flame Vein. This was a big event for BoC. BoCs concerts began to sell out and the band was invited to big time events like the Fuji Rock Festival. Their next album, The Living Dead hit the charts and ranked #86! Since then, BoC has released two more albums and their concerts have continued to sell out.
My Thoughts
Bump of Chicken is a very interesting and almost nostalgic type of band. Bump of Chicken was very inspired by The Beatles and it shows in their music. Some of their songs are gentle and soft. Fujiwaras deep voice along with these slower melodies will give you the impression that the band must be at least a couple generations old. Then you will come across other songs by Bump of Chicken that are great modern rock songs :) It is quite cool to listen to their collection of songs and I def. suggest them. Below is a music sample of Sailing Day, one of their most known rock songs.
