It all began during a singing audition. Consisting of over 1000 applicants, 3 people were chosen to form the group, 2 of them being Riyu Kosaka and Noria.

BeForU has worked on many songs that are featured in the infamous Guitar Feaks and Drum Mania series, Beatmania series and as well as the Dance Dance Revolution series. Some consider the songs performed by BeForU to be some of the best in the game series.

BeForU played their first live on February 19, 2006 at ZeppTokyo. They held a secret live in Auguest that same year. At this event the group announced they had signed to Avex Records, a major label housing chart toppers like Koda Kumi and Ayumi Hamasaki. Members Riyu and Noria also released solo singles on the label, as well as the bands major debut, "Red Rocket Rising". The band’s 3rd album, "BeForU III: Brekaing Into the Probability Changes" was released in March 2007 and the band is expected to hold another ZeppTokyo Live later in the year.

My Thoughts

I think BeForU is a very nice band, but there are too many band members. I don’t think they really need 6 singers. But playing the Guitar Freaks series, it doesn’t really matter to me. Their voices mix very well with one another, making a great unison sound.

In some songs, such as "Shining", their harmony makes the song very soothing and smooth to listen. Although they mostly do J-Pop, some songs, such as BreakDown and Himawari, are more upbeat, making me think they are a bit of J-Rock as well.
