Profile

Ishihara, the vocalist, entered into Kanagawa university and met up with Takehito Yasuda, a guitarist. Well, thinking this of their chance, they hop together and decide to start a band. However, within 2 weeks of forming the band, Yasuda got into a vehicular accident and was hospitalized for 3 months. Not soon after Yasuda’s recovery, Shigeru and Sakawa also join as guitarists, as well as college freshmen. There first work just so happened to be cover work for Helloween, the first known power metal band.

Sakawa eventually became the drummer and they started playing gigs at the university. Yasuda would use the synthesizer during live performances as well, but it’s rarely used in their work anyway. Rather soon after their first few performances, they decide to name themselves "Azrael".

However, upon releaseing their first album, "Run For the Night", their constant problems seemingly ended and were able to focus on their studies and music more. That basically meant more gigs and touring until 2001 came along. The album wasn’t a tremendous success, but they gained and earned their fame with the years following.

My Thoughts

Azreal is a very good metal band. Their music is powerful, full of emotion, and has a great drive to it. Akira does a good job with the vocals and can hit some incredibly high notes *props to him!*. You definitely have to listen to this band :D
