Akaten is an experimental/joke pop band created as a side project for both Yoshida Tatsuya of RUINS and Tsuyama Atsushi of Omoide Hatoba and Acid Mothers Temple. Instead of focusing on an "artsy" feel for their music, these two decided to try and stretch the idea of music art with their own humor. Using various everyday things such as plastic bottles and toothbrushes as extremely unorthodox musical instruments, the band attempts to capture the essence of simple daily occurrences in their music such as birds singing to playing tag with their own individual style.

Thoughts

The word "experimental" cannot quite describe Akaten. Their music is strange, random, and verges on being classified as noise music. I’m not a fan of Akaten. Just about anyone could create the noise that they make.
