Profile

Afromania was first formed in May 2004, at a high school in Okinawa. The five members had originally been class mates when they decided to pursue a career as a band. They quickly went to work creating original tunes, and released their first indies cd that November.

Over the next two years, the band performed at live houses and continued to create new songs. Finally in 2006, they were offered a major music contract through Sony Music. They made their first major single debut with "Very Very". Since then, the band has released several more cds and is still quite active live.

Thoughts

If you like bands like Orange Range, then you will probably like Afromania. The band is very similar, featuring some rapping, singing, and rock tunes. From listening to their music, it still seems a bit immature and impulsive. There are spots where lyrics seem unnaturally rushed or where melodies are rough. With time, I suspect these minor details will smooth out as the band gains more experience.
